Magiokis main site

After I'd made several multi-instrument recordings of songs I wrote, I finally knew what to do for a personal website: set it up as the home site for a fictional band, but with a twist: the home page would suggest there is no such site.

but notice the button in the middle - it actually starts up the script to show the first page of the actual site.

To show the various aspects of me, this site was divided into a series of sections. In addition to the band pages I included several kinds of things I was (or rather: had been) doing at the time.

The versions rebuilt with PHP and CherryPy follow the same structure. From left to right:

  • the fictional band "The Old Whores": a couple of pages containing the band bio and track/play lists of the "albums" they released

  • my real life musical collaborations

  • more recordings of songs I'd written

  • Lyrics pages for all my songs

  • pages containing short stories

  • pages containing poems

  • pages containing plays

  • pages containing comic strips and cartoons

  • pages containing stuff of a more philosophic nature, including writings that inspired me

  • pages containing a very concise bio of my life up until then

When I went seriously live, I hesitated to put this all up. With no Python available I had to go back to plain HTML so I decided to just expand on the bio part (there was a lot to add) and to make it somewhat livelier I also took the idea or the band site a little further.

In this version the "serious" part is hidden behind the second button (well... link).

Later I found I could install and use Drupal in the web space I had which not only led to a blog section but also to recreating the creative sections (stories, poems, songs, plays and programming) in some way.
